It seems that in WINME, after booting up, it can ask for a password at the DOS screen. I don't know whether WIN98 can be set up that way too.

I haven't tried this, but it should be possible.

I've already tried it all, but didn't succeed~~~ In the BIOS I can only change the "USER password" and the "administrator password". These two seem to only stop others from modifying the BIOS. What I want is to make it so people can't even boot up my machine at all~~~

Sheesh, once you set the BIOS, it should ask for a password when booting. If someone doesn't know the password, there's no way they can boot the machine.
Maybe you missed changing this item: only when securitoption is set to system will it take effect.
Not sure if your motherboard's BIOS is like this. Mine is.

Right, brother in post #4, I already changed it successfully with your method. Thanks, haha
Yep, just so those other guys can't mess with my machine either

Agreed.
I've seen this method before. It can fool beginners...
But for the kind of person who knows how to figure things out on their own, you still can't fool them.
But how many people can figure it out on their own?
So this method is still workable. Hehe...
