What is the essential difference between the DOS under 98 and DOS 6.22? It's not just that MSDOS.SYS became a configuration file, right?
(Is 98DOS a 32-bit DOS????????????????) |

Do you mean the pure MS-DOS 7.10 that comes with 98? You can understand it this way: MS-DOS 7.10 is a formal upgraded version of MS-DOS 6.22 (although it does not itself come with an installer and some of the external commands from MS-DOS 6), supporting long filenames, large hard disks, FAT32 partitions, Y2K compatibility, memory optimization (automatically loading UMB), enhanced commands, and so on, and it also has better compatibility, just like upgrading from MS-DOS 5.0 to MS-DOS 6.0.

MS-DOS6.22 needs the "DOS=UMB" Config command to support UMB
