The primary partition is necessary to boot the computer. Each hard disk can have at most 4 primary partitions. (Irrespective of the operating system) In FDISK (the 2nd option of FDISK) or other partitioning software, you can set the active partition. Which primary partition is activated will boot from that partition. (Only one partition can be active)

Creating multiple primary partitions is certainly useful; otherwise, why would this technology have been invented! There are multiple ways to install multiple operating systems. Installing multiple operating systems within one primary partition is just one of the ways. You can also create multiple primary partitions and install different operating systems in different primary partitions. In this way, the various operating systems do not interfere with each other, which is much better than installing them within one primary partition.

I recommend using smart fdisk 2.5c for partitioning. Then you can create 3 primary partitions that can be booted separately. And it has a fully Chinese interface. Partitioning and installing multi-boots are simple and easy to use.
Also, you can select which system disk to boot the OS from at startup. (It's equivalent to activating that partition in fdisk and then loading the system)
