Question:
Is there any difference between entering DOS with a boot disk and entering DOS from F8?

There seems to be a bit of a difference. You can tell if you use mem /c/p. DOS entered from F8 seems not to load DOS into upper memory.
If your floppy boot disk only has io.sys,msdos.sys.command.com, then its effect should be the same as entering DOS from F8.
Not sure whether this is correct. I ask the experts here to correct me.
