1. Under DOS, how should CONFIG.SYS be changed so that memory can be expanded to 1 MB or more?
2. I have a Compaq laptop that under DOS can only display about a nine-inch area in the middle of the screen (the content itself displays normally). Question: how can I make it display full screen?

But regarding the display, maybe I didn't explain clearly enough. I mean pure DOS here, not DOS under Windows, so there are no Properties settings or anything like that. I wonder what method can make the screen display full screen?

The laptop's COMS settings depend on the WIN system. It's not like a PC where you can press DEL at startup to enter an interface. Whether the LCD is stretched is recorded in the laptop's COMS. If you want to change the setting, you first need WIN, install the graphics driver, and then set it. Once it's set, even if WIN is deleted later it will still stay in stretched mode, unless the laptop's COMS battery runs out or the COMS is changed again.

Indeed, after installing windows it still only showed a window in the middle. After changing the screen resolution to 1024x768, it became full-screen display. But under DOS it can only display about a nine-inch area in the middle of the screen.

You should be able to find it. For example, my graphics card is S3. After installing the graphics driver, there will be one or two extra S3 settings in the advanced options. There should be LCD stretch among them. If the graphics card supports TV, there should also be display output switching options like TV, LCD, CRT, LCD/CRT.

If you can't find it in the graphics card section, go check the Control Panel. (If the laptop's tool collection is installed, it's usually there.) That tool collection is basically equivalent to the DEL CMOS setup interface on a PC at startup. See whether there is an LCD stretch option in it.
