When I was using HD to make a floppy disk, it first gave a write error, then when I tried again it said it could not format it. It also can't be formatted under Win98. How can I repair the floppy disk? Thanks!

For floppy disks, you can try using some older software that does not support FAT32 partitions, large-capacity disks, and other such features, such as DISKFIX.EXE in PCTOOLS and the NDD software in the NORTON tools. You can even use HD-COPY to first format the disk at less than the standard capacity, and then format it again at the normal capacity. Some disks can be used again after being handled this way. However, please note that floppy disks are not very reliable. If you have any important files that need to be saved, please make at least two floppy backups, so that if at least one disk has a problem you still have other backups available!

In HD-COPY, turn off verify and format it once, then scandisk will do.

If a floppy disk is bad, just throw it away. Even if you repair it, it won't last long!

If your floppy disk contained extremely important files, you probably wouldn't say that! Repairing a floppy disk is not about how long it can still be used; sometimes it is to rescue the data stored on it!

That's right, isn't there a saying: "3 years on the left, 3 years on the right, patch it up and it lasts another 3 years"? I agree with "patch it up"...
