I installed a Virtual PC 5.2 in XP.
I don't know how to install DOS in it. Virtual PC only supports floppy drives and CDs... I don't have a DOS installation disk on hand |

Isn't there a download for the MS-DOS 7.10 installation disk in the sticky post of the forum? And it's also here:

I am using a sound card integrated by ASUS A7V600-X motherboard, which is ADI AD1888 6-channel CODEC. I asked on ASUS's website forum, but ASUS didn't provide DOS drivers for this sound card...
Is there any way to solve the sound card problem under DOS... I found the GHOST image of DOS 6.22, so I didn't install DOS 7.1 (it seems that DOS 6.22 has better compatibility? Is that right) How to configure CONFIG in the virtual machine to make it run games? I am a DOS newbie (I only played computers in internet cafes during the DOS era...) Please give me some advice |

Who told you that DOS 6.22, which is so old (released 10 years ago!), has good compatibility? MS-DOS 7.10 has much better compatibility than it, and it's more updated and practical. We all use it. And DOS 6.22 has very poor compatibility. It not only doesn't support large hard disks, large memory, FAT32, Win9x, etc., but also some new DOS software can't work properly. It's 2004 now. Why are you still installing such an old thing?

I once heard that there might be speed issues when playing games under DOS7... Also, can the sound card issue be resolved under DOS7.1? I saw that there is an option to select the sound card during installation, and one of them is AC97. Can it support my sound card? |

There may be problems with the speed of playing games? Very unlikely. If it is slow, it must be caused by loading some other programs or different settings, and it has nothing to do with DOS itself.
If this AC97 sound card has no DOS driver, then it basically cannot be used under DOS. |
