My XP was downloaded.

When I was about to install it, I formatted drive C in DOS.
Then I went into the XP directory and typed SETUP, but it just wouldn't install (I'm sure I was in that directory).

The prompts were:
this program cannot be run in dos mode

I've also gotten this prompt:
program too big to fit in memorg
----------------------
I'm a newbie, I hope everyone can help me out and give me a correct installation method, thanks!

PS. Running XP's SETUP under 98 can install it, no problem.

To install WinXP under DOS you use the WINNT command, not the SETUP command.

No way, I've installed it N times, seems like you just need to boot from cd and it's fine (restart)

Yes, you should go into I386 and run Winnt.exe
