China DOS Union

I still have an original IBM 486DX33, with 4MB of RAM and a 200MB hard drive, plus a sound card, mouse, CD-ROM drive, and both 3.5" and 5.25" floppy drives. What else do you think it can still be used for? I’m thinking of just letting my mom play some small DOS games on it. I also want to use a Chinese character support system, load long filename support, and install an RTL8029 ISA network card. Is that possible? Can it run Pwin32? How should I configure the CONFIG files so as to leave as much conventional memory and system resources free as possible?

Also, I downloaded Mini Win32, but it seems it can’t run directly from the hard disk. If it absolutely has to run in a RAM disk, then with only 4MB of memory there’s probably no way I can get it to run. How can I make it run from the hard disk like a directly installed Win32?

Why do you have to use Mini Win 3.2?
Wouldn’t installing Pwin3.2 be better? (If you don’t have it, just reply to this thread)

Thanks, you’re a good guy. But UMBPCI can’t be used on a 486, so I changed yours a bit. I’m not sure whether it’s right. That 486 isn’t here for the moment, so I can’t test it right away. Please take a look and see whether this is correct.
