Sudden CMOS error, some settings lost! - China DOS Union Forum

My machine had always been perfectly normal. It was still fine this morning, but this afternoon as soon as I powered it on, right after POST it displayed a line of CMOS error information, and then it just stopped there. So I had no choice but to go into the BIOS settings and take a look. In the basic settings, I found that the first boot device had somehow mysteriously changed to the floppy drive, so I changed it back to boot from the hard disk and saved the settings. Then the system finally started normally!

But after entering the desktop, I noticed that the system time had somehow become January 1, 2000, 0:00:00. Why did the time reset to zero? Could it be that my motherboard battery lost power? Does anyone here have run into this kind of situation?

It's no big deal if the first boot device is the floppy drive. I think it's probably that the battery on the motherboard has gone bad, or someone reset your CMOS settings back to the factory values. I suggest replacing the battery and seeing

My machine is at home. Nobody touches it except me, so how could the settings have changed by themselves for no reason?
