DOS stands for freedom, openness and progress. Let us work hard, learn from the openness and GNU spirit of FreeDOS and Linux, and together build and grow a free GNU GPL world!

Question: What exactly is an image file? Where can I find its definition?
I’m not sure whether it’s appropriate to ask here. But after thinking about it, I decided to post it here anyway. Hope the moderator will forgive me!

Basically there isn’t really any definition to speak of......
Take the standard ima-format floppy disk image for example: the ima format has bootsector, Root directory, FAT1, FAT2, etc., while in HD-COPY’s compressed img-format floppy disk image you can’t see them...... Why?
Because it’s compressed.... only hd-copy can see it...
