After using MS-DOS 7.10 Full Installation Edition installation disk 1 to boot the system, I got the following prompt during installation:
If your WinXP is installed on drive C:, please do not install this DOS system. Wengier, is that really true? That would be such a pity. |

That's not the case. It just means that if drive C is formatted as NTFS, please do not continue. If drive C has WinXP on it, that's fine.

I have a 486DX2 laptop, currently with MS-DOS 6.22 and WIN32 installed. I now want to install the MS-DOS 7.10 full installation edition, but I don't know whether it can be done. How should I install it (this machine doesn't have a CD-ROM drive)? Thanks!

The following is quoted from jm_219's post at 2003-10-16 10:27:54: Yes, you can. Just use the MS-DOS 7.10 floppy-disk installation edition to install it (you do have a floppy drive, right!). |

What bad luck, my WinXP system partition is NTFS, but the other partitions are FAT32. Is there still a way to install MS-DOS 7.10 and make it dual-boot?
Wengier, please advise. |

The following is quoted from zere's post at 2003-10-16 15:58:40: There are two ways. One is to convert drive C to FAT32 first and then install DOS, the other is to use VFLOPPY to emulate a floppy drive. |

Wengier, please give a detailed introduction to the method of "using VFLOPPY to emulate a floppy drive" to install MS-DOS 7.10 and make it dual-boot.
Thanks! |

Moderator w, won't it work to install dos71 in the second partition (a non-NTFS one)? I think it might be possible. The system files could be in either the first partition or the second partition, one of them should work, right?
