I want to ask two questions:
First: how can I control a batch file so it can only copy files in 8.3 format?
Second: how can I make it not display the cpoy process while copying?

Thanks...

Only copy files in 8.3 format, be a bit more specific: do you mean don't copy anything longer than 8.3, or copy it into a ~x style name
Not showing the copy process while copying, copy a b >nul

// a source file b destination file
// > pipe symbol
// nul virtual device

Sorry, I'm not very clear on the details either. The following is my assignment
write a well documented, and tested DOS batch file, that will accept a file name and its extension (ie. in short 8.3 format for DOS) as the first command line parameter.

Older versions of DOS could only copy files in 8.3 format, but newer versions of DOS are not necessarily like that.
