Everyone, I want to ask about LFN.
First: under what circumstances must a file or directory name have a long file name? Is there any standard I can look up somewhere?
Second: which characters were illegal when creating files under DOS, but can be used now? And in long file names, how are those originally illegal characters handled?
Also: in Windows, when some long file names end up with the same short file name, after using ~1, ~2, etc., why is there a case like this in MSDN:
This is test 1.txt THISIS~1.TXT
This is test 2.txt THISIS~2.TXT
This is test 3.txt THISIS~3.TXT
This is test 4.txt THISIS~4.TXT
This is test 5.txt TH0FF9~1.TXT
This is test 6.txt THFEF5~1.TXT
What algorithm does it use?
I hope one of you experts can help me out. Even if you can just point me to where I can find similar materials, I would be extremely grateful!
