If you are currently using the WIN98 operating system, when the blue-sky-and-white-cloud screen appears during startup, press CTRL or F8, then choose Command prompt only from the menu, or click Restart in MS-DOS mode from the Shut Down item on the Start menu. That will put you into the pure DOS state of MSDOS7.10.
