Could the moderator use a 98SE boot disk as an example and give a detailed introduction to the config files?
On the Win98 boot disk,
the contents included in the CONFIG and AUTOEXEC files are quite rich.
There are many commands and comments in them that aren't in the textbooks.
If the moderator could explain them to us using this as an example,
then everyone would have something to compare with and something to try hands-on, so we wouldn't be left confused.
That would be much better than just talking empty-handed about the syntax of various commands.
I looked at the sticky introduction on CONFIG configuration. The stuff in it is all in my DOS book.
But that knowledge still can't explain the things in the 98SE boot disk.
I hope the moderator can oblige. Thanks.

Most of the configurations in the 98SE boot disk are too plain and already outdated. It's better to use the various latest MS-DOS 7.10 boot disks we've made as examples, for instance this one I made:

Yeah, the contents of the Win98SE boot disk really are a bit outdated. Aside from not being very powerful, most of the drivers and such were MS works from around 1998 and 1999, so they don't have much research value.

Also, I'd like to know what these symbols mean,

The following is quoted from Wengier's post at 2003-9-18 6:11:50:

This boot disk made by the moderator really is very good; I highly recommend everyone use it
