The two popular virtual machine programs right now are VM ware and Virtual PC.
I tried installing rom-dos on Virtual PC5.1, and found that it always hangs. It can only install msdos
I wonder if anyone else has any experience? Also, I haven't tried VM ware yet. Does anyone know which virtual machine is more stable and faster?

VPC5.1 is relatively faster and more stable. As for ROM-DOS, I haven't tried it, but MSDOS works. After all, a virtual machine isn't a real one, so it's normal that many systems aren't supported and crashes happen. In other words, it can't install ROM-DOS,
These two virtual machines both have a lot of BUGs, after all they're still being improved.

I've used vmware. It's not easy to use, can't enter the graphical interface

and it's very slow, sea can't be used either, a lot of things can't use their functions fully

also it can't drive the network card, can't connect to the network, lots of problems

still, the real thing is better

By all rights VPC should be better, but my machine can't install it. It crashes as soon as it runs. Probably related to my CPU, it's a VIA C3.

Actually I feel vpc is better for standalone use, while vmware is better for setting up networks.

That doesn't seem right?! I think Vmware is much more stable, it's just that its memory requirements are a bit higher. I used it with 512M RAM to install 98, and DOS works fine too

Can someone teach me how to use DOS in Vmware?
I don't have a floppy drive or CD-ROM drive, can anyone provide a boot disk file?
Also, how do I write files to the virtual hard disk from under windows?

Don't use version 5.1
switch to 5.0 or 4.x and it'll be fine

I installed msdos 6.22 on VMware 3.0. As soon as I used EMM386 it would crash very easily, and UCDOS was unstable too

VM is very stable for me?
My method is to use 深山红叶 to boot VM, and then partition the hard disk (that is, format the hard disk with the format /s command) hehe. Then under 深山红叶's win ce environment, put the DOS7.1 installation files in there, then install it, and it's OK!
