When I run DOS stuff in XP, the mouse works, but I just can't see it. But if I use a DOS boot disk, then the sound card won't work. My sound card shows up in Device Manager as: "creative sound blaster pci (wdm)". Is there any way to let me use the sound card in DOS, or a way to make the mouse visible when running it in XP? I'd appreciate some guidance from the experts. I'm a newbie, and I've read a lot of posts but still couldn't find it. If there were already related posts in the forum before, it would also be fine if the experts just post me the title, thanks!

Simply put, my machine only has XP installed. Can I use DOS stuff on it and still use the mouse and hear sound at the same time?
Or you can teach me how to make a boot disk that can drive my sound card, that would also be fine, thanks everyone.

Have you tried going to www.mydrivers.com to look for a DOS driver for the sound card?
As for not being able to see the mouse in XP DOS... by DOS, do you mean MS-DOS mode? It should be possible, right? Could you describe the exact situation in a bit more detail?

I looked, there probably isn't that driver.
For example, when I play old DOS games in XP, there's just no mouse.

Then, does this old game of yours support the mouse? When you play this game in other Windows environments, can you see the mouse?
Normally, a hardware company would prepare drivers for its products for various environments, unless it's already OVER. Try checking the official website of your sound card company.

Of course the original game supports the mouse, and other DOS programs under XP can't see it either (but it can still be used; if you click it, it responds).
But the CD that came with it also didn't have a DOS driver. And as far as I know, most onboard sound cards nowadays don't have DOS drivers. Although I bought a separate Creative one, it seems like it doesn't have one either.
