My computer has a Win98+XP dual-boot system. Recently I spent a summer vacation learning DOS, and now I want to study it further. But the DOS version that comes with my Win98 is too low (4.0), so I want to install a higher version. Which version should I install, and how should I install it? After installing it, will it cause any harm to the original two systems? Could all you experts please give me an answer? Thanks in advance.

1. The DOS version of Win98 is 7.10; 4.0 is the Windows version (Winver: 4.10.1998 or 4.10.2222)
2. Just use the MS-DOS 7.1 installer made by Wengier or by me
3. You can use Virtual PC to emulate a system for installation; partitioning and formatting will not affect the original system
4. If you have the conditions to install under Win2000/XP/2003, I recommend installing VMWare (the compatibility is much better)
ps: Although VMWare has good compatibility, it does not support the OEM SVGA interrupt, so it can only use VESA, while Virtual PC supports both
