I bought this computer last year. A lot of problems have come up over this year, no need to say more about that! Up to now I still don't know how to format. My computer is a complete mess now! The files are all in chaos! Please help! How do I format WIN98! Click "Start", click "Shut Down", then click "Restart the computer", and then click "Yes". Hold down CTRL until "Microsoft Windows 98 Startup Menu" appears. Choose "Command prompt only", then press ENTER. At the C:\ prompt, type format c:, then press ENTER. Follow the prompts. I don't know whether the above method is right or not. Please give me some guidance. If it's right, then what should I do afterward? Please explain in detail! Thanks!

I think it would be better for you to get some books that introduce reinstalling a system... For a newbie who has never reinstalled a system before, to reinstall it you should at least master the following: 1. Common DOS commands 2. How to use a boot disk 3. Installation of hardware drivers ... Actually, for a newbie, if you're not careful the machine may just crash...

opqingdao888, that way won't work. Set the machine to boot from CD-ROM. Put in the 98SE CD, and after booting from the CD it will show a:\> If your CD-ROM drive is E:, then do it like this a:\e:> e:\cd windows98se e:\windows98se>format c:/s/u Then confirm it and that's OK, then reinstall the system. This is just one of the methods.
