Before posting, everyone should take a good look at the posting requirements.
If you just want to chat off-topic, then post in the off-topic section!
Before posting, first think about which board it belongs in!!
Since different technical topics may overlap, you may run into cases where you don't know which board a post should go in.
Then just choose the board you think is the closest fit, but don't post it repeatedly!! Posting the same thread in every board will make people think you're causing trouble!!
If you have a question, use the search function first.
If you want to learn more, the first thing you need to learn is how to learn!!!
I've noticed that people aren't interested in threads like "The Wisdom of Asking Questions," "Posting Rules," and "Posting Requirements."
But those threads really do help improve the way you ask questions!
Learning how to ask questions is very important!!
It isn't easy to come up with a good question,
and it isn't easy to ask it in a good way, with a good description either.
People who can ask good questions in a good way will earn others' respect!!
Just like people who can answer questions well, they will earn others' respect too!!
Before asking, use the search function first. Maybe someone has already asked this kind of question before, and maybe someone has already answered it.
Repeatedly asking questions that already had answers is extremely annoying!!!!
If you're sure you want to ask, then pay attention to choosing a good title first!
Urgent! Experts please come in! I have a problem! Weird thing! Help! Please help me! Waiting online! Confused! Feeling miserable!
Titles like these simply cannot accurately express the problem you're having!
And on top of that, when I see titles like this I feel like deleting them!!! Because people who write titles like that give me one of only a few impressions:
1. Lazy! Unwilling to think for themselves!! Just waiting for others to hand them the answer...
2. Clueless! They don't know how to ask a question, and if you go to the trouble of clicking into their thread, the problem inside is usually something impossible to solve (because the description is too simple, so you have no way of knowing what problem they actually ran into). And even if you do understand what they're asking, and you know the answer too, you still can't explain it clearly in just a few words! Often after answering that one question, it just brings in even more questions. I don't think anyone wants to be an elementary school teacher, right?
3. Bad attitude! Because he or she simply takes it for granted that others ought to give them the answer. When other people don't give them an answer, they become very dissatisfied! If you criticize them, they'll think you're putting on airs as an expert, arrogant, acting like you're so great, and prejudiced against beginners, and then they'll turn around and argue with you about that instead. I don't think anyone wants to get into that kind of trouble, right?
By this point, I figure some people are probably going to curse me out after reading this... But honestly, this is how I really feel. If by chance you're one of those people who habitually writes titles like that, and you think I'm not respecting you, then first give me a reason why I should respect you!!! I've always respected people who know how to ask questions. If you want me to respect you, then first learn how to ask questions!!
After choosing a good title, the content of the post is also very important!
Because of the limit on title length, it's impossible to explain the problem clearly there. So you need to explain it in detail in the post.
As for how to explain it clearly, I've already said enough...

Lately it seems like all I've been writing are these boring topics.
It seems like some people just don't know how to use the search function.
So I'll say it one more time here.
Your problem, your environment (including hardware and software environment, that is, what kind of machine specs you're using, what kind of operating system you're using, what kind of software you're using), your usage process (sometimes your operating steps are also quite useful information... for solving your problem), and the guesses and attempts you've already made (describing this lets others know 1. that you're not lazy, and that you've thought about the problem yourself. 2. how much you understand about this area. That way people will be more willing to help you, and will know how to help you. If it's unclear how much you understand, it's hard for others to know how to explain things so that you'll understand!! But guesses are not random wild speculation—don't make baseless guesses. That kind of wild speculation only makes people think 1. you don't understand anything at all. 2. and you still like to pretend that you do.)
Basically, if you explain these aspects clearly when asking your question, the chances of others helping you will increase greatly!! (Unless nobody understands the problem.) Remember: not every question is something others know! That way, when you see that nobody has answered your question, you'll feel a bit better, hehe...
Let me emphasize one point again and again:
Spend a little effort learning how to find answers and how to ask questions!!!
If you're not even willing to spend that little effort, then I have to wonder how much effort you're really willing to put into learning DOS (or anything else)!
We respect people who know how to ask questions!!!
