Hello everyone:
I'm running into this problem now. Let me explain first: I don't really understand DOS very well.
The machines in the internet cafe have a single Win98 system and Restore Wizard installed (set to restore automatically). Now for some reason, each machine needs to have two management systems (billing systems) installed: 1. Meiping 2. Ren Zixing. Installing them isn't much of a problem, but the requirement is to be like when we normally install dual systems, where at boot time you can choose 98 or 2000. What I mean is, before entering the system, a Win98 machine would have: 1. Meiping 2. Ren Zixing. Then customers could choose by themselves which one to enter.
These two management programs both run at startup. If the problem above can't be solved, then both programs will run when the machine starts, and the whole point of having dual management systems will be gone. I was thinking whether it could be chosen in DOS, so that when 1. Meiping is chosen, then 2. Ren Zixing won't run, and vice versa...... I also thought maybe this could be done by changing the names of those two files, or by changing the startup entries in the registry.... I may be wrong too.. I hope everyone can help me... I'm a bit in a hurry.......... Thanks!!

Why is it that "CHOICE" can't be used in XP?

Hmm, I think using multi-partition booting could solve it.
So-called multi-partition booting means installing operating systems on multiple partitions, that is, having multiple primary partitions, with each primary partition installing a different operating system, or like what you said above, one partition with Meiping and one partition with Ren Zixing, then using multi-partition boot software to manage them, and deciding which partition to boot from depending on the situation.
There is a lot of software for multi-partition boot management, such as SMART FDISK, PARTITION MAGIC, SYSTEM COMMANDER2000, etc. All of them can achieve this function.

The management software is only loaded after entering Win98. You can set it in autoexec.bat, though the interface won't look very good; you could also write a small program to load at the very beginning, then use that program to choose which management system to use...

I'm just giving an idea, you'll have to work out the details according to the actual situation...

As everyone can see, the OP has modified all the content below.......... and please also download my software and see what problems there are........

To the person in post #3, I want to use the method you mentioned. Whether the interface looks good or not isn't very important. To be honest, I really don't know BAT. Could you write out the BAT for me as a reference?

Using bat isn't easy to handle.... because it would have to allow only these two choices, and also block hotkeys...
I wrote a small program in VB, have a look and see what you think (needs the VB runtime); when actually using it, of course there won't be an exit option, and it will also block Ctrl+Alt+delete. This is just to show you first....

I just wanted to help someone. The post may be in the wrong section, so please don't delete it yet...
