In autoexec
goto%config%
why does it correspond to config.sys
If I have some other .sys file
can I also use it like this, for example file.sys
with goto%file%

%config% is a variable, it has nothing to do with config.sys..

You really do have a lot of questions. You'd better buy a DOS book first and learn some of the most basic stuff!

Let me give you a suggestion, my friend: go by your own ideas, change it, reboot, and see whether it achieves what you want; if it's wrong, change it again, then look for the cause and the error; for one tiny error, (the English already said how many lines of error, but I can't read bird language) I kept changing it and rebooting, and in the end I figured it out. That's still better than asking here and waiting here for everything. And read more posts, search more too, and only ask if you really can't work it out, wouldn't that be better?

The answer is: you can't change it! %CONFIG% is a dedicated variable value, you can't change it casually.

When the user sets up a multiple menu in config.sys, MSDOS automatically saves the selected configuration item into the config variable. For example, if the user adds goto %config% in autoexec.bat, then it will jump to the configuration item in config.sys that he selected.
Brother! You understand now, right? In other words, this is a variable built into MSDOS.
But when there are no multiple menus, it seems there is no need to add this goto %config% in autoexec.bat. Though this variable may still be valid.
But there is one thing I still don't understand: since the config.sys configuration is based on the user's final choice, then isn't "goto %config%" in autoexec.bat redundant?
(Unless it's a statement like this: if "%config%"=="something or other" command---)

Experts, please clear up my confusion!
