why does it correspond to config.sys

Let me give you a suggestion, my friend: go by your own ideas, change it, reboot, and see whether it achieves what you want; if it's wrong, change it again, then look for the cause and the error; for one tiny error, (the English already said how many lines of error, but I can't read bird language) I kept changing it and rebooting, and in the end I figured it out. The answer is: you can't change it! %CONFIG% is a dedicated variable value, you can't change it casually.

When the user sets up a multiple menu in config.sys, MSDOS automatically saves the selected configuration item into the config variable. For example, if the user adds goto %config% in autoexec.bat, then it will jump to the configuration item in config.sys that he selected.
