What does it mean
What practical use does it have

SET windir=C:\WINDOWS; set the Windows directory
SET winbootdir=C:\WINDOWS; set the Windows boot directory
SET COMSPEC=C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM; set the location of command.com (this way it can be placed anywhere)

What is the purpose of
setting the Windows directory
and setting the Windows boot directory
Can't it be used directly?
