When I run Chinese Paladin 1, MS-DOS says XMS is short by 830K. How can I solve this?
How do I load extended memory under DOS and raise conventional memory to above 570K? I’m a real newbie when it comes to DOS, so please explain in more detail. Thanks. |

I totally can't understand it. It feels like it has nothing to do with my problem.
Right now the main thing is solving the MS-DOS message that XMS is short by 830K. Could you please explain it in more detail? Even moderators in a lot of places can't handle this problem. |

This problem is actually very easy to solve... In the old posts in this forum's "DOS Problem Discussion" section, I already posted the solution.

XMS short by 830K basically means there is no XMS, unless you don't even have 1M of memory? Check whether the core memory-management files, himem.sys and emm386.exe, have been loaded correctly
