I heard from a friend that it can be installed by booting with an XP CD.

Was it booted from a 98 CD? The step of copying XP to drive F is correct, and there should be no no response. Even if you don't add smartdrv.

Try to use my super MS-DOS 7.10 bootable disk to boot and then install WinXP. There are downloads in the "DOS Bootable Disk" section.

What does "no response" mean? There must be some response. Could it be that it's frozen?

Boot into DOS using any boot disk, then directly enter:
A:\>F: F:\>CD I386 F:\>I386\WINNT (The F drive has the I386 folder and it hasn't been modified) ---------------------------------------------- It is possible to install XP That's how I installed it --------------------------------------------- |

Is your WIN XP the content of the installation disc? Don't make a mistake. Or is the installation disc file damaged? Can you be sure?

The installation disk is okay.
But I installed it successfully without loading files. Is it that the current disk can be installed directly? |
