A couple of days ago, I downloaded several DOS boot disk files from the “New DOS Era - DOS Software” site, but when I opened them, they were all .img files. The readme inside said to use software like DiskImager or HDcopy to extract them, but unfortunately your little brother here simply can't handle either of these two great immortals. So I'd like to ask some kind person to clear up my confusion, I would be extremely grateful. It would be even better if you could give step-by-step detailed instructions.
Feeling depressed... |

The DOS version of hd can run under both 2k and xp, and winimage is also pretty good. As long as you have these kinds of software, you'll know how to use them. Do you have them?

Although the DOS version of HD-COPY can be used under Win2K/XP, it cannot make a boot disk (because at that time it cannot write the Boot Sector to the floppy), otherwise it won't be bootable.

I found a post in the digest area written by kickout called “Virtual Floppy Drives under DOS (1) -- hdcopy article”, but in that article the extraction of img files was only mentioned in passing and not explained in detail. However, judging from his explanation of the HD-COPY command menu, it seems it needs to be extracted through a floppy disk. If you want to extract directly onto the hard disk, you should use the software “undisk”, but I haven't found any article about it. So I'd still like to ask all you experts to point me in the right direction, thanks!

Try searching in google. There is a file called undiskp.exe. Use c:\undiskp **.img and you can open it directly. But undiskp and the file to be unpacked have to be in the same directory.

The following is quoted from y225249's post on 2003-7-7 17:43:30: First of all, congratulations on finding one. Actually, if there is a (1), then there is a (2), (3), ... It's a series. Try looking again. |
