Some file extensions in MSDOS have changed! For example: XCOPY.EXE has become XCOPY.EX_ What’s going on with that? Is .EX_ unusable? If I want to make it usable, what should I do? How do I turn it into an .EXE file?

I suggest changing the title to “What’s with the .ex_ file extension?”
The answer is: this is a special kind of compressed filename. After extracting it with Microsoft’s extrace.exe, it can be used.
If you don’t understand how to use extrace.exe, type extrace/? under DOS to get help.

Very sorry! I don’t know how to change the topic, so I’ll have to ask the boss to help me, hehe!

Does the brother in the post above know the decompression software EXPAND.EXE? What’s the difference between it and the extrace.exe you mentioned??

That software (expand.exe) seems to be the one that actually extracts *.ex_ files.
The extrace I mentioned seems to extract *.cab files, I’m getting dizzy. Misremembered it...
