Why can't I jump to the text under drive D by using `cd d:\text` in the root directory of drive C now?

Can the friend of the 2nd floor answer again what does cd /d mean? I check the reference book and there is no /d switch for cd

There is no /d switch under DOS. Under DOS (if using your own COMMAND.COM), you can't directly change the drive letter and directory at the same time. If you do "cd d:\text", and d: is already in the \text directory, you still need to type d: to do so.

The reason is in floor 4. /d is a switch only available in cmd. Microsoft Windows XP (C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp. C:\Test>cd /? Displays the name of or changes the current directory. CHDIR CHDIR CD CD .. Specifies that you want to change to the parent directory. Type CD drive: to display the current directory in the specified drive. Type CD without parameters to display the current drive and directory. Use the /D switch to change current drive in addition to changing current directory for a drive.

xcopy also only has the /i switch under cmd
