I searched all the forums with every combination of characters I could think of, but still couldn't find the answer to this question.
Yesterday I spent 20 yuan and bought a discarded 486 from my school. It can run, it's just missing a serial mouse. It's an 80M 486DX2, a 640M hard drive (there are three working ones in total, but it only has one IDE port, so only two IDE devices can be connected), and 16M of RAM. I already found some of my old articles on one of the hard drives (lost and recovered) and a WIN95, then I repaired another drive with PQ80, and I wanted to install Linux on a third drive, but the new installation disc won't run properly and always exits. I wasn't willing to use an old one either. Today I came here, and it just feels like coming home. Actually I've realized now that Linux isn't really the most suitable thing for me, mainly because it can't satisfy my need for transparent, complete, absolute control over the underlying hardware (actually I also really like microcontrollers). So now I want a pure MS-DOS 7.10, and I don't want to install Win98 just for this (copying it from a machine that has Win98 would also be fine, or if there's really no other way, I could install Win98 first and then delete it). I'm using a Win98 boot disk + sys c: to load the system files, but it seems that doing it this way won't give me a complete 7.10, right?
Any good suggestions?

After using the sys command, copy all the files from the COMMAND folder of 98, and wengier also has the full version of MSDOS71

Will that do it? I just saw a post saying the same thing too (looks like my search skills still need work)
Many thanks!
