First, this is pure DOS.
Second, don't tell me to just turn off the power. Third, don't tell me to hold down the POWER button. How to shut down in pure DOS? |

Heheh, pretend you seem to know everything. Just press the POWER button gently, no need to hold it down for a long time. Besides, of course, you can also shut down using software. But what else can you get besides some psychological comfort?

What are the differences between shutting down the computer using software under DOS and directly pressing the POWER button?

Originally posted by sylecn at 2008-1-19 01:58 AM: There are mainly two differences: 1: Sometimes when a disk buffer program (such as SMARTDRV) is loaded under DOS, if you shut down using software (such as SHUTDOWN), it can automatically write the buffer back to the disk before shutting down, so that data will not be lost. However, if you press the power button to shut down, it may cause data in the buffer to be lost. 2: The POWER button on new machines often cannot be turned off with just one press, but needs to be pressed for 6 seconds. However, shutting down using software can be done in an instant. |

Just looking at the LZ, you must not have experienced the DOS era. Back then, people just powered off directly. Before powering off, they manually saved the file and exited the program.. Software power off was something that happened after Windows 95 appeared.
ps: There is a parameter for smartdrv. After executing it, you can write the data in the write cache back to the hard disk (if write cache is enabled). |
