The cmd under XP and MS DOS 7.1 are two entirely different things and cannot be compared.

I installed MS DOS 7.1 using a virtual floppy disk and entered DOS, but now I can't enter Windows. What should I do?

Are you installing Windows?

Now the msdos71 version can automatically rewrite the boot menu.

I don't know where the DOS you installed came from.

After installing Windows, there will be a boot menu, and the Windows below is DOS 7

It's just the full installation version in the new DOS era. I don't know how to rewrite the boot item during installation. Is there only the way to reinstall Windows? Can it be remedied under DOS?

I estimate that when you cleared the MBR during installation, you selected the wrong option. How to remedy? Can you go back to your original XP?

Got it: It's very troublesome. The premise is that you have an XP installation disc. It's too troublesome. It can't be said to use DOS to remedy. I said that method can indeed return to your XP. As long as you haven't damaged things other than the boot MBR of that XP. I don't know if it's the remedy you want?

Can GRUB4DOS be used? I forgot. I have to ask an expert. I remember that GRUB4DOS can boot XP without using the MBR of XP. Maybe I can try this method, which is relatively fast. I don't know the specific principle of GRUB. It seems that it searches for the file ntldr.
