MSDOS.SYS File Settings -－－－－This post is a repost, author unknown

Reposter's note: Since msdos.sys is also something under DOS, and Win98 startup cannot avoid the DOS stage, I am posting this article here

This article is for beginners; experts who have momentarily forgotten can also give it a try. :)
　　Below are some settings I know of in the [Options] block of the MSDOS.SYS file for Windows98. (For each option, the default value is written first)

　　[Options]

　　AutoScan=1/0

　　BootDelay=2/?

　　BootGUI=1/0

　　BootKeys=1/0

　　BootMenu=0/1

　　BootMenuDefault=1/2/3/4/5/6/7

　　BootMulti=0/1

　　BootWarn=1/0

　　BootWin=1/0

　　DblSpace=0/1

　　DoubleBuffer=0/1

　　DrvSpace=0/1

　　Load Top=1/0

　　Logo=1/0

　　WinVer=4.10.1998

　

　　AutoScan: Whether to run ScanDisk on the next startup after an abnormal shutdown.

　　BootDelay: The waiting time before hotkeys can be pressed at boot (unit: seconds), but I tried it myself, and it seems to have no effect.

　　BootGUI: Whether to enter the Windows GUI interface at startup (otherwise it is the DOS interface).

　　BootKeys: Whether hotkeys are effective at startup.

　　BootMenu: Whether to display the startup menu at startup (otherwise it only displays after pressing a hotkey).

　　BootMenuDefault: The default item when the startup menu is displayed (i.e. the item where the cursor is).

　　BootMulti: Whether to allow booting DOS 6.xx (provided that the boot disk has old-version DOS startup files, and this disk must be FAT16).

　　BootWarn: After a failure during startup, whether to prompt to enter Safe Mode on the next startup (this is the most annoying; better to turn it off!).

　　BootWin: Whether to automatically load the old-version DOS at startup.

　　DblSpace: Whether to load DBLSPACE.BIN at startup.

　　DoubleBuffer: Whether to enable double-buffering support.

　　DrvSpace: Whether to load DRVSPACE.BIN at startup.

　　Load Top: Whether to load part of the system kernel into high memory at startup.

　　Logo: Whether to display the “blue sky and white clouds” at startup.

　　WinVer: No need to explain, right.

　

　　Finally, a word about startup hotkeys:

　　F4: Start old-version DOS.

　　Shift+F4/Shift: Safe mode

　　F5: Skip CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT, but load HIMEM.SYS (how is this different from the above?).

　　Shift+F5: Safe mode command prompt only.

　　F8/Ctrl: Display the startup menu.
