China DOS Union

: I have a small movie file, 53MB, and I want to split it into many small files (1.44MB each). Then transfer it to another computer, and restore it there.
I used to do this with DOS commands before, but it's been so long that I've gradually forgotten...
Please advise!!!

Also:
In order to transfer a large file from computer A to computer B, I tried using "Direct Cable Connection", but I couldn't get it to work the first time! The computer wouldn't show up in the computer list.
Please advise... the detailed procedure!!!

DOS doesn't have a command for splitting files, but you can use third-party software or compression software for it. ARJ, RAR, and AIN all support multi-volume compression.

Under DOS there are third-party split-file software commands, for example GF, as well as that program written by baobolz (available for download in the "Netizen Originals" section on my website), and others can all do it.

I really did use the arj program before for multi-volume compression (using arj to create volumes in c:/aaa/文件, after splitting it became many small files such as a01, a02, ...... an, then copying them one by one to another computer, and then combining them again), but now I need the DOS command itself. Could you provide the DOS commands for splitting into volumes and merging with arj? Thanks.

The split-volume command may look something like this:
arj a -v1440 -(new saved file) (path and filename of the file to be split)

The above is the DOS split-volume command I can think of, but I can't remember the "correct DOS command"!

I heard COPY can merge files too!
