Hello everyone:
Yesterday I got an old computer, a Founder 586, Pentium II 166, 24M. The hard disk had been replaced. I want to reinstall 98 on this hard disk, but it always goes back to the installation directory after detecting Plug and Play devices. I don't know why. Could it be that a brand-name machine has this information fixed on the original hard disk, so it can't recognize a different hard disk? Please help me!!!

It won't be fixed like that. How big is your hard disk? Some motherboards in old machines don't support large hard disks. You can try plugging it in a few more times
to avoid poor contact, and don't forget to format your hard disk!!!!!
