Create a DOS virtual machine in VMware
Then partition and format the hard disk in your virtual machine
Boot from the CD - ROM and install DOS 7.10

Is the person above saying that after allocating the hard disk in the virtual machine, you need to use a third-party tool to format the hard disk? May I ask can you directly install it using only the virtual machine?

Installing on a virtual machine is equivalent to installing on a bare metal machine. You need to partition first, then format, and finally install.
