How to run DOS - China DOS Union Forum - China DOS Union

There are some things I didn't make clear:
I'm using XP, and there are programs that need to run under a lower - version DOS. XP is in NTFS format (Is all XP in NTFS)
The hard disk can't be used with DOS. I want to run DOS from drive A.
After making a DOS 5.0 boot disk and putting it in drive A, the machine prompts: REMOVE DISK AND OTHER MEDIA. After taking the disk out, the machine can run WINXP normally, but actually DOS isn't run. So, having a boot disk doesn't mean running DOS. To run DOS, do I also need to create files like BOOTSECT.DOS in the boot sector of drive C (this file name is learned from webmaster Wengierwu)?
I downloaded PCDOS 3.2, and there is a SETUP file in the files. When I run it, it reports that it doesn't match the BIOS version. I haven't installed DOS before, so I want to ask if all DOS files have the SETUP item.
Talking endlessly is annoying.

Q: How to run DOS? There is a boot disk of MSDOS 5.0 on the floppy drive, and the machine should boot DOS from drive A, but what to do next? Do I have to install DOS to the hard disk before running DOS (using the SETUP command? Does every version come with SETUP?) Very basic question

Did you set the floppy disk to boot in the BIOS?

Are you executing DOS from a bootable disk in XP? Just use VPC.
