In 1982, the second version of DOS was released. This version was called
MS-DOS 1.25 by Microsoft and PC-DOS 1.1 by IBM. This version supported
double-sided floppy disk drives. Early single-sided floppy disk drives could
only access information stored on single-sided floppy disks. To reduce the
number of disks used, some users bought flippable disks. These disks could
store information on both sides. Besides supporting double-sided disks,
DOS 1.1 also corrected some errors found in version 1.0 and provided the
programmer's tool EXE2BIN.
