DOS stands for freedom, openness and progress. Let us work hard, learn from the openness and GNU spirit of FreeDOS and Linux, and together build and grow a free GNU GPL world!

Moderator, why is it that when I use the VER command under DOS, it shows the WIN98 version instead of the DOS version?
I'm a newbie, please go easy on me! Thanks!!

That's just one of Microsoft's tricks. Use the EDIT command to look at the contents of files like COMMAND.COM and IO.SYS, and you can see wording like “MS-DOS Version 7”.

Are CONFIG.SYS and AUTOBUCE.BAT only for the DOS system? For example, if a lot of TSRs and device drivers are loaded, will that affect the operation of WINDOWS?
