I don't know which files in a Win98 or XP DOS boot disk are unnecessary.
I want to delete them and leave only the bootable files and the ability to enter commands like cd and dir. If anyone knows, please help. Thanks. |

You can do without all of them except the three boot files: IO, COMMAND, and MSDOS...

If it's ROM-DOS, then only two files are enough: IBMBIO.COM (75K) and COMMAND.COM (44K). As for IBMDOS.COM, it's optional.

Wouldn't it be better to use ROM-DOS's MINICMD.COM instead of COMMAND.COM?
