I don't know which files in a Win98 or XP DOS boot disk are unnecessary.
I want to delete them and leave only the bootable files and the ability to enter commands like cd and dir.
If anyone knows, please help.
Thanks.

You can do without all of them except the three boot files: IO, COMMAND, and MSDOS...

If it's ROM-DOS, then only two files are enough: IBMBIO.COM (75K) and COMMAND.COM (44K). As for IBMDOS.COM, it's optional.

Wouldn't it be better to use ROM-DOS's MINICMD.COM instead of COMMAND.COM?
