cd x:/i386 win But installing it this way is slow because some file isn't loaded but I don't remember what it is

Please expand DOS memory first, then load smartdrv, then enter the i386 directory and execute the winnt command...

That's too technical, I'm a newbie. How do I load smartdrv? Also, if installing directly from the hard disk, what should I do?

It's the same. First find smartdrv。exe, it's in the command folder under the win98windows folder. Just execute it under DOS.... No matter where the XP installation files are, enter the I386 directory and execute winnt.

Sorry to trouble you again, but my system is already XP, it just had problems and needs to be reinstalled. I booted into DOS state using a Win98 installation disc, so how do I find that smartdrv.exe file? Thanks!

You don't have to expand memory, just run smartdrv directly
