Nowadays of course most new DOS software is developed with the DJGPP C/C++ series!

There is in Taiwan too, but it's mostly used for teaching C

Question: how can Chinese be displayed in a pure DOS environment? I only know that windows under the WINDOWS environment can display Chinese.

Just load a DOS Chinese character support system and that'll do. There are quite a few in the forum's "DOS Chinese Localization World/Chinese Input" section.

Doesn't Microsoft like using BASIC?

A lot of things in Windows are also written in BASIC. Didn't Emperor Bill still want to keep using BASIC to write Windows applications!
