I have read the post by站长 Wengier, but I have tried many times and cannot install it successfully. Also, I don't have a floppy disk or a burner. Now, I would like to ask how to install MS-DOS 7.10 from the hard disk under the XP system. Since I am a novice, please trouble the experts to tell me the steps in detail.

Try to install with a virtual floppy disk. After entering the installation interface, keep clicking next all the way, but in the end, it prompts that there is an issue and cannot be installed.
Please enter the Path where it locates.
MS-DOS 7.10 setup cannot locate the source files to copy in the following path.

No way, I tried with a virtual floppy drive, and when entering the installation interface, there was still an issue, prompting that
There is no Primary FAT File System on your hard drives, or there are no hard drives found on your System at all!
MS-DOS 7.10 cannot be installed without.
Fat12/16/32 drives plase ensure that you have created a Primary FAT File System on your hard drive
MS-DOS 7.10 setup cannot continue.

I don't understand whether the people in this forum are too good or we are too stupid. I see that it seems that many friends are asking about the installation method of DOS 7.10, or maybe our comprehension ability is too poor, and we can't even understand the easy articles written by others.
The decline of DOS is beyond dispute. Playing DOS is just my interest. I just want to find a friend who is a bit enthusiastic and can install DOS 7.10. Is it really that difficult?

I'm a newbie. After several hit-or-miss attempts, I finally succeeded in installing it (ha......quite a sense of achievement). The following are the specific steps: 1. Use undisker to open the decompressed DOS71-1.IMG (I only download 1.IMG, not 2.IMG), then select Image Properties (decompress to.....) to the root directory of drive E on the hard disk (any partition is okay, but it should be decompressed to the root directory, not to a folder, otherwise the installation process will prompt that "the instruction or file is bad". I can't explain the reason.). 2. Insert the Windows 98 installation CD, boot the computer from the start and enter the DOS prompt, type E:\setup, press Enter, and the DOS 7.10 installation program starts to run. Select the default all the way (if the default installation can't continue, then select another one). Done.........I hope it will be helpful to the owner........

According to what the user on the 3rd floor said, I also tried it under WIN2000, but after executing setup.bat, the cursor just stops there and doesn't move... However, on another computer, it was successfully installed directly under XP (need to specify the installation file directory). I'm still using it now. If anyone knows the reason, please let me know.

Comrades, I seem to see hope! It turns out that I need to boot from the CD and enter the root directory to install!

But if it's not installed in the root directory of drive C (for example, in drive E), if the installation is successful, can there be a dual system after the system boots?
