China DOS Union

In the past, when buying a computer, I heard that floppy drives had been eliminated, so I didn't install one. Since I came to this forum, I have liked it. Although I still know nothing about DOS now, I personally feel that it is extremely inconvenient to learn DOS without a real floppy drive, so I want to install one. I don't know much about floppy drives. Please help me recommend a good one (internal). Thanks in advance!

Yeah, install a virtual machine. Now floppy drives are really obsolete and not useful anymore. You think learning to use a virtual machine is really convenient. You can arbitrarily mess around with the system and not be afraid of causing any damage. How great it is

Today I installed VMware Workstation and found that there is an A drive. My host doesn't have a floppy drive. How can I load a floppy disk image downloaded from the internet for this A drive?

Download a floppy disk image file, and you can also burn it into a bootable CD. That's what I did, and it's very practical, allowing you to do many things.

But how to burn a floppy disk image to a bootable CD? Hehe! Am I too noob?

You don't need to burn it into a bootable CD; just load the floppy image in VM.

Without using software, directly create a virtual floppy drive using the command `subst a: d:\abc`.
Note: `abc` is a folder, just put the things that need to be in the floppy drive in it.

Virtual machines are the best environment for DOS beginners! (Can perform operations such as partitioning, formatting, DEBUG reading and writing hard disk sectors, etc.)
