Oh, what a bummer. I wrote for a long time, but couldn't find the server. Write again.

Copy win98 to the hard disk, enter this directory, run smartdrv 8192.

Then run setup, and then operate step by step.

Installing Win9x doesn't need smartdrv. The initial installation phase of Win9x is a mini Win3.1, which has its own disk cache. Only when installing NT series systems do you need smartdrv.

Impossible, Windows 98 definitely needs smartdrv. If you don't believe it, go to the Windows 98 directory and see. Among the only few executable files there, one is smartdrv! It's there to be executed.

What I mean is that there's no need to run smartdrv manually; it will be loaded automatically when you start setup. On the contrary, setup.exe has a parameter to not load smartdrv during installation.
