Last time I said easy image was a bit too simple, so now here comes a super IMG extractor, and this one is foreign-made. Called super image???
The filename is simg.exe, size 11310 bytes.
At the DOS prompt, type simg
and the following prompt will appear:
Copyright (c) 1996 RGB Software,Inc. All rights reserved.
I am installed. Press Left-Shift + Scroll Lock to active me.
Then it goes back to the DOS prompt again.
How come there is no response??? After running it, why is there nothing and it just returns to the DOS prompt???
What do you mean nothing? Didn't it print two lines?
Is printing two lines enough? What I want is to extract an IMG image file. With only two lines printed, how do I extract it?
Take a careful look at what those two lines say before complaining.
Oh, what do they say? Let me look carefully.
(seriously reading the message)。。。。。。
Hmm, the first line is copyright information. This software came out in 1996, so it has been quite a few years; can it still be used now?
The second line? I am installed. Oh, it says it loaded successfully. (It can serve you now; I'm ready.) Press Left-Shift + Scroll Lock to active me. (Please press the left shift key and the Scroll Lock key to activate me). Oh, this means if you want to use it, the next step is to press two keys.
Right, one is the shift key on the left. Remember, the left one! The other is the Scroll Lock key. Where is that key? It is among the 9 keys above the cursor keys, the one above the HOME key. The left shift key and the Scroll Lock key must be pressed at the same time.
Got it! (presses the left shift key and the Scroll Lock key at the same time)
Dang dang dang dang... a dialog box appeared? (though it doesn't really count as a dialog box, it's so crude, more like a table)
The table that appears at the upper right:

Use the cursor keys to move to filename, and File Name will be highlighted. Brown background, bright white foreground. Press Enter to move the cursor into the input box after File Name, then enter the IMG filename you want to extract. (If it is not in the current path, you also need to enter the directory name together with it.) Press Enter and the cursor automatically moves to after Read. Press Enter directly, and extraction starts. The text box after READ displays reading, indicating that it is reading the IMG file.
After a while, reading is finished, as shown below:

The text box after Format indicates the format of the IMG file. Here it is Uncompressed. This means it is not compressed.
The text box after Message is of course for displaying messages. The Chinese meaning here is that the virtual floppy drive has been created!
Press ESC to exit. The dialog box above disappears... (it has hidden itself again; if you want to activate it, you still have to press those two keys)
Then go to drive A: and take a look. Ah, there really is content! It is exactly what was extracted from that IMG image file just now.
Good, it really virtualized a floppy drive... I want to copy something into the floppy drive (should say into the floppy disk in the floppy drive). Hmm, I heard the Tianhui Chinese character system is pretty good, so I'll copy one in and play with it. Huh, disk full, error! After checking, it turns out there are only 1024 bytes left on drive A, so of course it can't be copied in. Oh, the emulation is quite realistic. It really is just like a real floppy disk. Even the capacity is emulated exactly the same. Hehe...
Sigh, I don't want such realistic emulation. I just want to extract the files, that's all. No need for it to be so complicated.
Then use EIM.
Didn't you say EIM doesn't support some formats? Oh, never mind, I'll bring out another treasure. This one is domestic again!
This time, appearing on stage is???
DOSIMG! Please look forward to it!!
