Question 1: Why do we need driver programs if we have BIOS? Question 2: Are the driver programs under WinXP different from those under DOS? Sorry, maybe the questions are a bit naive

BIOS cannot drive everything. XP and DOS have different kernels, so the drivers are naturally different.

Can you boot DOS from BIOS, and then boot Windows 2000 from DOS?
