I still have 77K of UMB, and that program only needs 40K, but I can't load it into UMB with lh. What could be the reason?

I found the reason: the UMB was split up too badly, and there isn't a single block large enough to hold that program. Is there any way to gather these UMBs together?

Download a UMB concentrator and give it a try, though I haven't tried it myself.

UMB itself is not contiguous to begin with. You can try adjusting the loading order of the programs loaded into UMB, so that programs needing less memory are loaded into the smaller UMB areas. Also, some programs don't need much UMB themselves, but require a larger initialization space, and that can also make them unable to load into UMB. For example, the mouse driver included with MSDOS needs 17K of memory, but requires 51K during initialization.

I checked the memory usage with msd. There are 4 available UMB blocks: 40K, 16K, 3K, and 15K respectively. But the program needs 47K of memory, so no matter how I adjust it, it still won't load.
