I have an MP3, but I don't know if making it a bootable disk will damage it and make it unable to play music. What are the differences between an MP3 and a USB flash drive for making a DOS bootable disk? Please help me, little brother, and thank you here first

I don't have an MP3, but since MP3 is also a USB drive, I think it should be okay. Just download a USBoot software to easily make a bootable disk.

It should be necessary to support the bootable function, right?

This is not necessary. As long as the motherboard supports USB HDD booting, there are no special requirements for the USB flash drive. If you want to achieve floppy disk emulation or ZIP booting, you need to use a special USB flash drive.

What Michael said is correct. Now most brands of USB flash drives and MP3 players support USB booting. As long as you use a suitable boot disk creation tool, there is no need to use a bootable USB flash drive at all. In addition to considering the USB flash drive, you also need to see whether the motherboard supports USB-Zip or USB-Hdd booting. Now most motherboards support it.

Originally, USB drives that didn't support boot functionality could be made into USB-HDD mode for booting, learned another trick.

As for the motherboard, new motherboards generally support USB booting. But sometimes what puzzles me is that some computers明明 selected to boot from USB-ZIP or USB-HDD but just couldn't boot up.

The USB - related items in the motherboard BIOS were all selected, and the USB ports worked normally in the Win system. The USB drive also tested normally on other computers.

Some motherboards claim to support USB booting, but actually they don't. I had a computer like that before. The BIOS boot options showed a bunch of USB devices, but in reality, none of the USB devices could boot successfully. And the computer I'm using now fully supports USB booting.

The solution for this point is to go to the original manufacturer to see if there is a new FirmWare, and then flash the BIOS on the mainboard.

No, I've checked many times, and the motherboard BIOS has never had any new versions released. Now that computer is no longer in use either.

It's very strange that the motherboards of a batch of computers our company bought at that time were all the same model.
As a result, some can support USB booting, while others can't.
Perhaps as DD said, we need to flash the BIOS.

Some motherboards, although of the same model, still have some slight differences in versions.

Please clarify the specific content that needs to be translated. You only provided "给个具的做法呀", which is too ambiguous. Please provide the complete relevant text that needs to be translated.

I happen to have an MP3 (512M), and I want to use it as a bootable disk, putting common DOS commands in it, and also can put a small pure system (GHOST version), so that it's convenient for computer maintenance and system installation. But I don't dare to start without specific methods or examples, afraid that after making the bootable disk, I can't listen to music anymore. The experts had better post an example.
