I installed DOS 7.1, and it feels pretty good! (My machine's system is winxp, DOS 7.1 is installed on drive E:, and after installation a dual-boot menu appeared.) But when running some programs under DOS 7.1, it says there isn't enough memory and they can't run. Also, under winxp it feels like opening files has become slower, and I don't know why.
Can any experts explain this? Also, I installed DOS 7.1 on two different machines, but on one machine four files appeared: AUTOEXEC.BAT and AUTOEXEC.NT, CONFIG.SYS and CONFIG.NT, while on the other machine only AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS appeared. And the contents of these two files are rather simple, with only one or two lines (I don't remember exactly what they were).
